Casting News Hot Off The Wire - Various Sources

NEW MISS AMERICA CONTEST HOSTED BY COUNTRY MUSIC TELEVISION BECOMES REALITY TV FORMAT
The 85 year old Miss America pageant will broadcast a reality series next year to draw viewers and let the audience choose some of the finalists. The Associated Press reported Country Music Television will show the seven episode "Finding Miss America" in the days leading up to the January 2007 pageant, the network and the Miss America Organization announced on Saturday. Each episode will focus on a group of contestants as they live together and compete in preliminary competitions. At the end of the preliminary period, judges will tally their votes and secretly select 8 of the 15 top finalists, who will be revealed at the live pageant. Viewers will be able to vote at the end of each episode to select the remaining finalists. CMT picked up the Miss America Pageant after ABC dropped it in 2004 because of low ratings. The road to the Miss America competition in Atlantic City begins in a town near you. To become Miss America, a contestant must first win a local competition and then compete to represent her state, a process requiring personal commitment, hard work and talent. A woman may compete as a state titleholder only once at the national Miss America competition. If you are interested in receiving more information about becoming a contestant in the Miss America system, just click here and navigate to the state you are interested in competing in.
