At Roger Ebert's Overlooked Film Festival, from April 24-29 in Champaign, films are only selected from among the films Mr. Ebert sees in the normal course of his reviewing. The International Film Festival Summit, on April 18 in London, is the trade show for professionals from the film festival industry that provides a platform for connection and collaboration to enhance the well-being of film festivals across the globe. At the ASCAP "I Create Music" Expo, happening April 19-21 in Hollywood, the usual panels, workshops and master classes dedicated to songwriting and composing are slated, and a new area for registrants interested in film scoring through a partnership with "FYI - Film Your Issue," will be instituted. Final Draft in association with The Hollywood Networking Breakfast hosts a "Scripwriters Showcase" featuring panels with film and television writers revealing industry practices, covering topics that include feature film, television, storytelling and comedy writing, for two days starting April 20 in Universal City. Gospel Music Association Music Week takes place April 21-25 in Nashville and folded into the scheduling as a breakout event will be the 38th Annual GMA Dove Awards hosted by Brian Littrell, Natalie Grant, and Donnie McClurkin. Parties, educational sessions, cocktail receptions, networking events and The Fifth Annual Billboard Bash, which features awards presentations and performances all make up what is now called Latin Music Week, climaxing with The Billboard Latin Music Awards, April 23-26 in Miami. The Eighth Bare Bones International Film Festival and Movie-Biz Conference, happening April 23-29 in Muskogee, is devised as a platform from which to showcase low-budget (less than one million dollars) independent movies with a focus on championing the "Bare Bones Auteur".
At Roger Ebert's Overlooked Film Festival, from April 24-29 in Champaign, films are only selected from among the films Mr. Ebert sees in the normal course of his reviewing. The annual Tribeca Film Festival, founded by Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro, kicks into gear April 25 running through May 6 and will have an expanded focus with Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival presents 14 premiere screenings of sports-releated films, panel discussions, appearances by actors and sports stars, and with former NY Giants Tiki Barber serving as an ambassador of the festival. "Anima 07" is the Cordoba Animation Festival which will be happening April 27-30 in Cordoba. This year's New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, originally devised in 1970 by jazz impresario George Wein, features a wide variety of indigenous music styles, food booths, and arts and crafts on display. MusExpo 2007 opening in West Hollywood April 29 through May 2, deals with aspects of the global music industry and offers evening showcases on the Sunset Strip.

Musicals at Richter (MAR) in Danbury, Conn. will hold its 2007 season auditions for high school, college and adult performers March 29-April 1 at The Melrose School, 120 Federal Hill Road, in Brewster, NY, just a few minutes from Danbury’s Richter Park. A separate children’s audition will be held for young performers Sat, Mar 31. The 23rd main stage season features three Tony Award-winning musicals, including Fiddler on the Roof (June 21 – July 7) directed by Donald Birely of New York City ; On the Twentieth Century (July 12-28), directed by MAR founder and president Brad Blake of Danbury; and Oklahoma! (Aug 2-18) also directed by Mr. Blake. In addition, the daytime children’s play series Fairy Tale Theater will feature four hour-long shows adapted and directed by Elyse Jasensky of Danbury. Rounding out the 2007 offerings is Richter Rising Stars, a select group of performers age 21 and under who will perform material from recent Broadway shows, television musicals and motion pictures at Richter Park and other area venues. Alicia Dempster of Danbury will direct and choreograph. Dionisiac Rock is casting for the non-union short film “Automatic Cinema” Director: Giacomo Gavotto. Job runs for 1 week starting July 5. Payment: Lo/no/ deferred. Several key visual elements and the way the story is structured (dream sequences) will hopefully allow the audience to approach the internal meaning of the piece on different levels. The main theme would be, in general terms, the lack of communication between the characters; more specifically it lays upon the relationship between a father, who comes back in town after many years, and his son (the lead character). A mother, a beautiful girl and a friend will contribute to increase the conflict between father and son, as the audience struggles to clarify what is going on. Death, dreams and reality are constantly questioned throughout the film, making the audience lose the perception of true time vs. dream time. Seeking: Lead character, male, 25-30 - Andre has very intense dreams that make him face the absence of his parents. He is a musician. He will understand during the movie the importance of having a father nearby. Actor should be able to access different emotions in order to convey the controversial realities he will find himself projected into. The father, male 50-60 - He's a sailor who realizes he needs to go back to his son and support him through his transition to adult life. He tries to rebuild communication with him, without getting any result. Male / 18-24 yrs. / Any Ethnicity (Others like this). Pino, male 18-24 - The lead character's friend. Even though he's too young to have known the 70's, his mind lives back in the post- punk era (British). He personifies the radical side of his friend's sense of independence and self- confidence. He will be rejected by his friend at the end. The mother, female 41-50 - She celebrates her own funeral during a dream sequence (sad expression, it's a close up). Very important, she will also act in the final scene telling Andre' the truth about his father.

Rounding out the 2007 offerings is Richter Rising Stars, a select group of performers age 21 and under who will perform material from recent Broadway shows, television musicals and motion pictures at Richter Park and other area venues. Alicia Dempster of Danbury will direct and choreograph. Open audition times for high school (16 and up), college and adult performers are Fri, Mar 30 from 7-10PM; Sat, Mar 31 from 2-6PM; and Sun, Apr 1 from 1-5PM. Thurs, Mar 29 from 7-10PM is reserved for Richter alumni to audition by appointment only; returning performers may call 203-438-1669 to schedule a time. Separate auditions for children and youth performers will be held Sat March 31 only from 10AM-1PM. Actor should be able to access different emotions in order to convey the controversial realities he will find himself projected into. Payment is on a lo/no/deferred basis. An ambitious Student Thesis production is seeking a musician/composer for choosing and creating the best music for the film in the making. "The Other Kind of Balance" is an ambitious film about new discoveries and different views on life. It touches upon one's search for a release from an everyday mundane life and finding it in the place where one didn't dare to step into before, an alternative lifestyle. It's a film about personal acceptance and human duality. (final film will be about 1 hour long with a possibility of later being expanded to a full feature) Currently in the final stages of production and simultaneously in post-production editing stage, the film needs a good score to be complete. With the deadline in early April, we are seeking to get the composer/musician on board as soon as possible. She is a confident, free-spirited, independent woman committed to a life by the ocean on her own terms. Mickey is a rough, mid- twenties male who will hold on to his home surf break any way he can. Having spent all his time cultivating his cemetery, Emmett is forced to face the complex reality that his life has consisted of nothing else. Sensitive and untrusting, Emmett leads a of life of detached solitude, only finding peace when he is at the cemetery. 2. Male / 41-50 yrs. PRIEST- The role of the PRIEST. Wise, kind, and patient. The Priest attempts to solve everyone’s problems, despite the fact that his solutions are not always ideal. His sermons are not widely attended, but he takes pride in each one in the same way he attempts to learn about and remain close to all of his congregants. Wildsound Feedback Film Festival, Folk Alliance Music Conference, 79th Academy Awards, HBO Comedy Arts Festival Highlight February Media Events
Song writing duo, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, are celebrated in the American Songbook series of Lincoln Center in New York on February 2 in a musical program that features performances by Brian Stokes Mitchell, Sandy Stewart, Lari White, Lillias White and others. Screenwriter/Author/Actor George Clayton Johnson, and Senior Managing Partner of Creative Convergence, Philippa Burgess, will speak February 3 at the Alameda Writer's Group Meeting series in Glendale. ASCAP opens the second season of Jazz at Lincoln Center on February 5 in New York with ASCAP's "Month of Mondays," a program showcasing talented young jazz creators. The International Film and TV Finance Summit gets underway February 5 for three days in Los Angeles and among other things offers perspective on the growing role of Hedge Funds and institutional investors in global film finance. Grammy award winning country music legend Kenny Rogers will be featured entertainment at the Golden Mike Award in honor of Kenneth W. Lowe and The E.W. Scripps Company February 26 in New York.
