Casting for the New York Film Academy Thesis film "Urban Caveman," about a young man, Peter, who has isolated himself in his apartment in the big city where he can avoid confrontation with the outside world. He satisfies his human needs with fast food, porn and philosophy. One day a beautiful girl, Sophie, disturbs this daily routine of his: Peter's parents have allowed her to crash in Peter's apartment until she finds a place of her own. Peter, at first reluctant, soon finds himself strangely drawn by this creature so very different from himself. Slowly she drags him out of his urban cave, his isolation, and shows other aspects to life that he had forgotten existed. Shooting July 7-14 in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Sirona Studios is casting actors ranging in age from 4 to 90 for "Deception," an Arab Sopranos with a taste of the classic Hitchcock whodunit filmed in a Film Noir style; (think Maltese Falcon, Laura, and Double Indemnity). We are looking for Middle Eastern actors for key roles and at least one Asian Actor. We also need a person of short stature. FEATURE FILM "WRONG WAY" FROM DOMAIN PRODUCTIONS, TAMPA
Director: Preston Walden. This is a horror film based in Southern Georgia but will be filmed in central Florida. The film, Wrong Way, is a film about a town that does not exist anymore, but there are a few who will do anything to build it back up...even terrorize 6 friends who happend to get stuck in the town, who are on their way from University of Georgia to Daytona Beach. Hint: This town used to get it's income and jobs off a carnival/fairgrounds back in the 50's. This film will be a full lenght film that will have two sequals. The Summit will showcase designers and leaders from the digital entertainment community, highlighting latest trends in game development and publishing, and offer perspectives on industry growth. Author/Screenwriter Diana Wagman and Author Dara Marks discuss the process of integrating character and depth into story for both books and film during a May 5 meeting of the Alameda Writers Group in Glendale. Diana Wagman has three published novels and a screenplay, Delivering Milo, produced in 1999, and Dara Marks' book, Inside Story, demonstrates how to identify your story’s thematic intention. Lobo: Black male, 18, 6ft, overbearing, intimidating presence, the school bully. Eddie: Black male, 18, Lobo's follower, talks shit to others when he's around Lobo, when alone, a scared punk. Jessica: Hispanic female, 18, Lobo's follower, a thuggish chick who's quick to pick a fight, speaks with only two worded sentences that may or not make sense. Association of Film Commissioners International holds its 21st annual AFCI Locations Trade Show, April 7-15 in Santa Monica, and offers as a break-out seminar "Film Incentives: An Independent View of what Governments are Giving," led by producer and attorney Vince Ravine. The National Association of Broadcasters Convention for 2007, which covers every aspect of audio and video content production, hosts a Content Creator's Party at the ESPN Zone, when the conference runs from April 14-19 in Las Vegas. The International Film Festival Summit, on April 18 in London, is the trade show for professionals from the film festival industry that provides a platform for connection and collaboration to enhance the well-being of film festivals across the globe. At the ASCAP "I Create Music" Expo, happening April 19-21 in Hollywood, the usual panels, workshops and master classes dedicated to songwriting and composing are slated, and a new area for registrants interested in film scoring through a partnership with "FYI - Film Your Issue," will be instituted. Final Draft in association with The Hollywood Networking Breakfast hosts a "Scripwriters Showcase" featuring panels with film and television writers revealing industry practices, covering topics that include feature film, television, storytelling and comedy writing, for two days starting April 20 in Universal City. At Roger Ebert's Overlooked Film Festival, from April 24-29 in Champaign, films are only selected from among the films Mr. Ebert sees in the normal course of his reviewing. The annual Tribeca Film Festival, founded by Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro, kicks into gear April 25 running through May 6 and will have an expanded focus with Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival presents 14 premiere screenings of sports-releated films, panel discussions, appearances by actors and sports stars, and with former NY Giants Tiki Barber serving as an ambassador of the festival. "Anima 07" is the Cordoba Animation Festival which will be happening April 27-30 in Cordoba. This year's New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, originally devised in 1970 by jazz impresario George Wein, features a wide variety of indigenous music styles, food booths, and arts and crafts on display. MusExpo 2007 opening in West Hollywood April 29 through May 2, deals with aspects of the global music industry and offers evening showcases on the Sunset Strip.
